    DISCLAIMERS AND CANCELLATION POLICY:

The Frequently Asked Questions below cover many of the questions clients ask me before starting therapy. If you have additional questions, please send me a message.

Do you take insurance? NO. You may have noticed by now in your search for a therapist that a good many do NOT accept insurance plans, and that is also the case with me. Why??

A number of reasons actually. For one, it can cause confidentiality concerns. It is my personal belief that therapy should be held as sacred and private as possible, yet in order to process a client’s claim, I must provide certain personal information about him or her which may affect their employment etc. depending on where they work.

Furthermore, insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis and will often determine the type of treatment and duration of services allowed for a specific diagnosis. I refuse to be limited and so should you.

Your appointment time is established and held especially for you. If you miss a scheduled appointment, and you do not cancel twenty-four hours in advance, you will be responsible for the full cost of that appointment.

Fee for insufficient funds or declined card is $25.00. You will not be allowed to book another appointment if you have an outstanding balance. Outstanding balances not paid within 30 days may be sent to collections.

I am a spiritual counselor operating under Oregon’s “educational licensing exemption” under ORS 675.825(4)(a), which allows alternative practitioners and counselors to practice legally in Oregon without a license.

WHY I LIKE TO USE Zoom. You can use this for your computer or app on your phone. You receive an email with a link, inviting you to join me, your therapist at your agreed upon time online through Zoom. I chose Zoom because it is one of the current leaders in innovative video conferencing that meets HIPAA guidelines, offering the most stringent of recommended security protocol for confidentiality.

NOW THE FUN PART OF WHY I USE ZOOM !!

Increased Confidentiality/ Anonymity – Think about it…no one ever has to know you’ve left your bedroom or office… For those of us who may cry when emotional, there’s no worry about having to walk out of your therapist’s office with puffy eyes or your mascara running. 😉 And if you’re the type who struggles with social anxiety, online counseling has been shown to be extra beneficial.

Lower Costs Associated with Counseling – No gas money needed. No time spent driving to and from your counselor. Time is money too! After Hour Appointments Available – Your counselor can meet with you at a time that works for both of you. Especially good for couples who don’t want to leave the kids home alone or hire a babysitter!

No Matter Where You or Your Favorite Counselor Travels, You Can Still Meet! – Up until recently, if your job took you out of the area, you likely lost the ability to meet with the therapist you had already developed a great relationship with. And if you happened to have a tough time on vacation, you may have been out of luck. Not any more!
